Unity Doors is proud to have supported Novus Property with their recent community project for Beyond Housing.
As part of its Build Back Better initiative Novus is committed to supporting local communities and has set a vision to be a force of good. Unity Group is pleased to have united forces in order to create an inspirational outdoor space for Beyond Housing.
In addition to the extensive fire door replacement scheme we’ve undertaken for residents of Wykeham Court (in partnership with Novus team and Beyond Housing,) we’ve also helped to revamp their community garden, transforming it into a welcoming outdoor space.
Going above and beyond
I had the chance of catching up with Leon Watson, Unity Door’s Senior Contracts Manager to find out more about the project:
Thanks for taking the time to talk with me Leon, I understand you’re an extremely busy man?
You could say that, yes. It has been very busy recently.
Well, I appreciate you telling me more about this particular project. What was the initial scope of this Beyond Housing scheme?
Initially the provision was for the supply of Unity Door’s composite solid timber core FD30s communal fire doors, featuring all our composite fire safe door styles in a modern white finish with fire safe hardware.
And how did you find the project?
Honestly, it’s generally seamless working with Novus and so this was yet another example of a supply and install fire door replacement scheme which went very well indeed.
So how did you get involved in doing the garden too!
Actually, it was Novus Property Solution’s Customer Liaison Manager, Teri Robert, who mentioned the Build Back Better initiative and whether Unity Doors may be able to help out.
With a spot of gardening?
I’m not averse to a bit of gardening! But actually, no we were asked to contribute to the garden revamp with the donation and installation of a new timber bench for the patio area.
I’ve seen the photos and it looks quite extensive the work that’s been carried out in the gardens
Yes, but it was very much a joint effort. In addition to the new bench, Novus and Beyond invested in new plants, pots and everybody got hands-on in order to give the whole space a new lease of life.
Even the residents of Wykeham Court joined the team – Peter and Arthur dug out new borders and recycled some of the pallets we had spare to create edging.
Well, the results are great, from the photos it’s clear to see that residents now have a lovely outdoor space where they can relax, socialise, and enjoy the fresh air!
It must be satisfying to have projects like this when there’s a community building aspect?
Yes, you’re right, it is, it feels like you’re giving a little something back and that’s rewarding in itself.
