It’s been extremely busy at JCK recently as we’ve been putting our bespoke timber fire doorsets through their paces (and our team) with some intensive testing at WarringtonFire.
At Unity Group we’re constantly looking at ways to improve and excel, and this ethos underpins every aspect of our business. Last year we achieved solid results with our fire door testing, and this year, we’re pleased to say we’ve surpassed all expectations.
This most recent fire door test, was a 30 minute fire test to EN1634 utilising a 44 mm external timber core with toplight, which attained excellent results – in excess of 41 minutes! This doorset also underwent testing for acoustic for which it achieved 31dB for smoke too – overall a great result.
Graham Hughes, Managing Director had this to say about the recent testing:
‘We’re absolutely thrilled with these latest fire test results, the findings of which will allow us to be so much more competitive. By overrunning to such a degree we’ll be able to offer even more design freedom and versatility in terms of the style, size and glazing options on our bespoke timber fire doors.
As we can see from the photos and the timer, our test fire door achieved in excess of 41 minutes, with the first door failed at 43 minutes and the second test fire door still resisting even after testing stopped. Astounding. And something to be extremely proud of.’
Delivering exceptional performance, style and a competitive price point
By achieving such excellence on glazed doors we will be able to develop our timber fire doorset range and offer even more versatility; with 30 minute UKCA marked external fire doorsets.
Full reports will be coming soon, swiftly followed by further Secured by Design testing. We will of course keep you updated!
