WE’RE RECRUITING FOR A SENIOR CAD TECHNICIAN

Unity Doors is a specialist in the design, manufacture and supply of Timber and Composite doorsets. We are recruiting for a Senior CAD Technician to join our Leicester JCK Joinery team.

  • Reporting to: Managing Director / Commercial Office Manager
  • Location: Leicester site
  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
  • Salary: Dependent on experience – up to £35,000 per annum

    Key Responsibilities

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Produce all CAD drawings for timber door sets and associated products
    • Produce Cutting Lists for shopfloor production
    • Maintain the product specifications and drawings on ERP system, Joinerysoft
    • Provide support with programming of CNC machine for new specifications and advise CNC operators when necessary on changes
    • Provide technical assistance on timber door sets to all customers – Architects, Main and sub-contractors, Local Authorities, Engineers – by phone and email
    • Active involvement in new and existing product development including fire door and security testing programmes
    • Administer and develop technical information such as thermal UV calculations
    • Ensure all technical filing is completed and easy to access (hard copy, digital, reference literature)
    • Work closely with the Production Supervisors on intricate joinery design requirements
    • Provide assistance to the Operations Manager and Directors with any ad-hoc technical duties or projects

      Must have Skills, abilities & Characteristics

      • Significant experience in a similar CAD role, ideally within a construction-related product or systems environment
      • CAD skills (2D and 3D), ideally to include AutoCAD based software
      • Experience in manufacturing of building / construction products and systems – ideally timber joinery
      • Focused on providing excellent customer service
      • Accurate and a quick learner
      • Must have a practical and logical approach to work
      • Able to present a calm and ‘can do’ attitude
      • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
      • Confident IT user with experience in reporting and analysis
